Global Update: Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Last week, we saw the following actions occur in global markets:

  • The S&P 500 is up 2.8% for the year and the Dow 30 is up 3.9%. 
  • Emerging Markets are up 8.7% for the year, the World is up 0.9%, and the World Ex-US up 1.5%.  The EAFE is down 0.8%.
  • The top performing sector Consumer Discretion is up 12.2% for the year, while Energy is down 2.3% YTD as the worst sector.
  • Indonesia is up 34% for the year, while Greece is down 31%.

We enter the 4th quarter with a positive asset allocation model.  Psychology and Monetary are positive, and Valuation is as good as it gets.  The markets are slightly overbought, but we are excited about the 4th quarter stock market possibilities.
