Global Markets Update: Monday, February 28, 2011

Last week, we saw the following actions take place across global markets:
  • Most markets around the world were down last week as The World index finished down -1.6%.  The US and the World x US are both up 20% over the last year.  Emerging Europe was the only region in positive territory last week, and it currently leads all regions over the last one year up 29.5%, helped in large part by higher oil prices.
  • Canada and Germany lead all G-7 countries by a significant margin in the last year, while Russia is dominating the BRICs.  India is actually down -15% for the
  • Energy is up 13.9% YTD and 38% over the last year, with no other US sector even close.  Healthcare is at the bottom, up only 2.7% over the last year.
