Global Markets Update: Monday, April 25, 2011

After last week's market actions, here are a few highlights we noticed:
  • Commodities are leading the five major asset classes over the last one year.  In equity markets, Emerging Europe is benefitting from the spike in oil prices.  On the other hand, the Middle East and Africa are negative over the last one year.
  • Sri Lanka leads all countries we track over the last year, up 62%.  Thailand is in second, up 53%, and Chile, Argentina and Sweden help round out the top five.
  • Mid Caps are leading the market caps in 2011 and over the last one year.  Furthermore, Mid Caps are leading Large Caps over the last one year by 8%.  For US sectors, Energy is completely dominating, up 15.8% YTD.  No other sector is within 7% of Energy for the year.
