Global Markets Update: Monday, June 6, 2011

After last week's market actions, we've noticed the following trends:
  • The developed world seems to be experiencing a little deja vu so far this year.  Last year, the markets did next to nothing for the first half of the year, and today, the world markets are up just 2.8%.  In a similar fashion, the US is up only 3.6% so far this year.
  • France and Italy, both countries that had rough markets last year, are up over 11% so far this year.  At this point, these two countries are easily leading the G7 Countries for the year.
  • Basic Materials are the second sector to turn negative for the year, as they join Financials.  On the other hand, Healthcare remains at the top of the sectors, with Energy fairly close behind in second.

Also, as you can see in the charts below, it's interesting to note the actions in the US Style Boxes over the past six months.
