How did global stock markets perform last week? Here are some of the trends we noticed:
- It was a rough week around the world last week as most markets were down over 2%. That puts the US, up 4.9% for the year, well ahead of The World, which is up only 2% year-to-date.
- Developed Europe was down 3.3% last week, with France down 5.5%, Italy down 3.9%, and Germany down 3.3% for the week. Things are getting dicey in Established Europe as we mentioned they might at the end of the quarter.
- In the US, Mid Caps took a big hit last week (down 2.9%), which virtually closed the gap between Small and Mid Caps for the year.
- Most US Sectors are up 3-6% for the year, with Financials being the exception down almost 7%. Furthermore, Energy and Healthcare remain up over 11% year-to-date.
