Global Markets Update: Monday, October 22, 2012

The World was up just over 1% last week; however, this came mostly from international markets (up 2%), since the US was basically flat (up only 0.3%).
  • Japan led the G7s last week, up 3.8%, with Germany, Italy and France following with gains of 2.5% or more.
  • China led the BRICs last week, up 2.6%, while India lagged the group, down 2.1%.
  • Financials remain the top performing US sector, up 23.8% this year, while Utilities continue to lag the group, up only 3.1%.
  • As for the style boxes, Large Cap Value now leads, up 14.6% this year (see the graphic below).
