Global Markets Update: Monday, April 1, 2013

The US stole the show in the first quarter of 2013, as you can see in the chart below.


Real Estate (+9.1%) and US Equities (+10.7%) both made solid runs in the first quarter.  Commodities and Fixed Income lagged, while International Equities were up slightly.

The Global Equity markets finished the first quarter up 6%, with the US up over 10% and the World x US up 2.5%.  Emerging Markets were actually down almost 2%, with the BRICs all negative in Q1.

Mid Cap Value (+14.3%) was the top performing US style box in the first quarter, Healthcare (+15.2%) was the best US sector and the Dow Transports (+17.9%) the top US index we track.
